1990-1993 Participated in the entrepreneurship of California Applied Physical Chemistry Laboratory；

1994-1995 Working in the group of Professor Carol Hall, Department of Chemical Engineering, North Carolina State University；

1995-2000 Postdoctoral research in the Nobel Prize winner Martin Karplus group in the Department of Chemistry of Harvard University；

2000 Assistant Professor of the State University of New York at Buffalo, and Tenured Associate Professor in 2004；

2006 As a tenured professor at Indiana University School of Information and School of Medicine；

2013 Became a professor at the Institute of Glycomics, Griffith University, Australia；

2021 As a senior investigator at Shenzhen Bay Laboratory.

He has been working in structural bioinformatics for a long time and has been among the best in international protein structure prediction and function prediction competitions. So far, he has published more than 220 papers, cited more than 10,000 times, and H factor 61.
